THE SOUTHERN BAROSSA TO ROAR AGAIN!The Barossa Valley's award winning
Reservoir Outdoor Adventure Race will ROAR for a second time on Sunday October 16 2022 following the success of the inaugural event in 2021. So successful was the 2021 event that ROAR was awarded the Barossa's Community Event of the Year for showcasing the Southern Barossa as a nature adventure destination in its own right. The numbers of competitors able to take part will be greater than last year based on the success of 2021 ROAR, but organisers are treading carefully to retain the event's professionalism and appeal.
The event continues to be run by Southern Barossa volunteers, bolstered by the successful partnership between the Southern Barossa Alliance and supporting sponsors - and after months of planning and organisation, ROAR 2022's success is guaranteed.
The Triathlon event kicks off at 8:30 in the morning when 100 elite, intermediate and novice competitors get kayaking, mountain-bike riding and running on the Warren Reservoir and through the adjoining Mount Crawford Forest, ending 5 and-a-half-hours later.
One of the stars of the day will again be the Mount Crawford YOWIE who will show up to see who is stomping on his ground - and will hang around to entertain the crowd and the kids.
As the ROAR event grows, it will become an increasing highlight of South Australia’s international sporting calendar and is expected to be recognised alongside events as the Tour Down Under.
